For a growing number of people, essential oils are the first line of defense.
If you thought your last doctor visit was a quickie, you’re not alone. As of 2018, Statista reported that 56 percent of doctors spent 16 minutes or less with their patients. This doesn’t leave much time to engage in a conversation as important as your health. Additionally, the time crunch experienced by healthcare providers spills over into your 16-minute window, as many providers have yet to find the time to review your medical records or test results until they enter the examination room.
Most physicians feel that their visits with patients are too short.
According to a recent Fortune article, the author Kathy Bloomgarden revealed that “the majority of physicians think their visits with patients are too short to answer their questions and treat them effectively.” Healthcare providers are frustrated by the amount of data entry and face-time spent with computers, rather than listening to their patients.
Ariana Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global and Brainstorm Health co-chair, suggested that the missing component in our data-driven healthcare system is storytelling.
Physicians need to listen to and understand the patient’s story to better connect the dots that the data provides, but that isn’t the trend.
Internet + Information = Empowerment
Fortunately, as patients, there has never been a better time to do research and participate in our own healthcare. The internet offers an infinite number of hours, and a rabbit hole of websites to dig into when seeking solutions to simple health concerns. This online educational exercise can help us to understand the medical terminology and context of our health concerns prior to a brief office visit.
Although certainly, no replacement for professional medical care, knowledge and information can be very powerful, especially when seeking a first line of defense or natural solutions such as essential oils.
Natural solutions, such as essential oils, are easy to acquire and use, with no prescription required in most countries. My medicine cupboard is filled with a bouquet of essential oils along with a battery of application tools such as carrier oils, inhalers, roller balls, and diffusers. This is where I turn first to soothe an occasional sore throat, uplift a dark mood or relieve a minor headache after a crazy day. The body has the ability to heal itself, and essential oils help it to do just that.
Invest in the best.
Of critical importance are safety and efficacy, only the best quality oils should be in your cupboard. Many essential oil products on the market are fake, adulterated, of low quality, or lack potency. I choose to use doTERRA essential oils and wellness products to be certain that there are no synthetic chemicals. Essential oils are a powerful tool in your medicine cupboard. They’re affordable to use, and best of all, relief is in your hands.
